Daily Roundup

Productivity:

  • On the needles – Finished the second of four pot holders in Nonie’s Christmas order.  Two more to go!
  • Cooked and shredded three chicken breasts for daily salads for me and Nick.
  • Raked the back lawn.  Still have behind the garage and the front lawn to do…  Thankfully the trees are almost bare!

Nutrition:

  • 3 strips of nitrate-free bacon
  • coffee
  • 1 serving of German Sausage and Sauerkraut Casserole (http://busycooks.about.com/od/sausagerecipes/r/sausagekraut.htm – I use 2 lbs of sausage instead of one, raw sugar instead of brown)
  • 2 hard-boiled eggs with organic salted butter
  • figs covered in almonds (I suspect these were old, so threw the rest away)
  • Salad with shredded chicken and guacamole
  • String cheese
  • water

Budget:

  • I didn’t leave the house, so I didn’t spend any money!

Tip:

  • Instead of using shampoo, use 1 TBSP of baking soda diluted in 1 cup of water.  Commercial shampoos strip your scalp of its natural oils and contain parabens and other nasty things.  Beware — there is and adjustment period for your scalp and your hair may seem greasy at first.  This is normal.  This is your scalp balancing out oil production.  You will find you need to use this mixture less and less, often just giving your scalp a good scrub under warm water to move the oil around.  It is also important to brush your hair regularly with a boar bristle brush.  This also disperses the oil to the rest of your hair.  The other bonus is that baking soda is very cheap.  Think of all the money you’ll save!  You’ll be healthier for it too!  Check back tomorrow for a tip on a conditioner replacement.
