Day 1, 2011, Whole30

Happy New Year everyone!  I hope everyone had a wonderful time celebrating and trust you’ve all mostly recovered.  Not only was today Day 1 of 2011 but also Day 1 of the Whole30, my month-long challenge to myself to eat following Paleo guidelines, and not drink alcohol.  So far so good!  We didn’t roll out of bed until 11:30a and then didn’t leave our host/hostess’ house until nearly 1:30p, so the first day was a relatively short one.

Here’s the breakdown:

Fuel:  coffee, lettuce, spinach, tomatoes, tuna, walnuts, green pepper, cucumber, vinegar, grass-fed ground beef, onions, ground flax seed, sweet potatoes, olive oil, bacon fat, salt, pepper, cumin, garlic, tea

*Play: None

I hope you’ve all been thinking about the improvements you can make to your life and the lives of those around you in the coming year.  Resolutions are not made to be broken, just like promises.  Promise yourself that in 2011 you will be the best you you can be.  Challenge yourself.  Try new things.  Ditch bad habits and negative energy.  Most of all, have fun and live your life to the fullest!

*Play means exercise.  I prefer to think of it as play.

  1. Hey, congrats on day 1! Gabe and I are starting tomorrow when we get home from house sitting. We don’t have our own kitchen or provisions right now to really work with to start today. But yes, we’re doing the Whole30 in January, too!

  2. Thanks Jen! I’m so excited that you and Gabe are giving it a stab as well. This is going to be a great month. I’m looking forward to reading about your progress too!
